Updated: 5 days ago

A beneficial polllenator for Bees and Butterfilys the Tickseed sunflower (Bidens aristosa), also known as swamp marigold or bearded beggarticks, is a vibrant, golden-yellow wildflower native to North America. Blooming in late summer through fall, it thrives in moist soils, along roadsides, fields, and ditches, often forming bright, dense patches that attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.

This plant is part of the aster family and is valued for its ecological benefits. Its abundant nectar and pollen make it a favorite among native bees, helping to support declining pollinator populations. Tickseed sunflower is also deer-resistant and easy to grow, making it a popular choice for native gardens and wildflower meadows.

While not commonly used in cooking or medicine, it holds significance in native landscaping and ecological restoration. Its long bloom time and resilience to poor soil make it an excellent low-maintenance plant for erosion control and habitat support.

Though it has no known edible or herbal applications like some wildflowers, its beauty and environmental value are undeniable. Whether you’re planting for pollinators, restoring natural habitat, or just adding a splash of golden joy to your garden, tickseed sunflower is a hardworking and cheerful addition to any landscape.

Tickseed is still being look at and studied, therefore making a cream or other Herbal products would be experimental at this time and there is not enough known information to support uses for safety. Perform a patch test before using as a remedy cream.
